Gujarati Basundi Recipe – How to make creamy sweet

Ingredients

  • 1 liter milk (full cream)

  • 6-10 chopped pistachios

  • 8-10 chopped almonds

  • A pinch of saffron

  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder

  • Sugar (to taste)

Direction

  • Heat the milk in a pan or wok.

  • When the milk boils, reduce the heat to low.

  • Let the milk reduce to half on low heat, stirring occasionally.

  • Add sugar and cardamom powder to the milk, mix well.

  • Boil for another 5 minutes so that the sugar dissolves.

  • Add malai or cream (as desired).

  • Add almonds, pistachios and saffron and mix. Switch off the heat.

  • Serve Basundi hot or cold.
